Photos of the January 25th Egyptian Revolution
Amateur and professional photographers have had their work cut out for them during the eighteen days of struggle against the Mubarak regime.
The site Sawt el Niswa posted a series of photos dedicated to the women of the revolution: The active role of women in the demonstrations as seen in this site placated the suggestions that it was a male only revolution.
The photos, from the Flickr pool “2011 Egyptian Protests” show Egyptians at home and abroad expressing their solidarity in some cases by simply holding up the universal peace sign and/or displaying their own protest sign.

I think it’s pretty cool that there are pictures of women to prove that it wasn’t a male-only revolution. All of the photos are historic; they show a lot of emotion, dedication, and show the significance of culture. They demonstrate the importance of these protests. Some pictures are sharp, some are a little blurry and have a smokey feel to them, while others are of silhouettes. Each picture is unique. They show people, protest signs, banners, and speeches. The variety of styles in the photos makes it feel like I experienced this important event myself.
