Compose the speech that F would give upon graduation as a way to introduce her character, the small town (and minds) of Lamesa, the agrarian culture of cotton, its legacy and a foreshadowing of the future for her.

The fear of public speaking ranks high among Americans, so it is important to parallel this with the foreshadowing of her eventual departure from the life that she knows to one that she has grown to love in the perfume of the ink, the silkiness of the cotton bond and the person who emerges from the page.
