Meet the corresponding gerard Darris> Lorient

Hello, I'm Gerard Darris, and I sign today in the blog of USK France, I'm a member for about a year. I draw a long time, but the time of my professional life, especially when traveling. My architectural training (I worked as a planner for over 30 years in a private consultancy firm in Rennes) rather carried me to the sketches cityscapes. I worked primarily in black and white (black pens and India ink to wash shaded), but also sometimes in watercolor. For 3 years, I am "retired," and I settled in Lanester, near Lorient. This new facility is an opportunity for me to put me to draw more activement.Quand I was working, I could not draw that outside of my everyday surroundings. The scenery was necessary to me. Today, in an environment and a city I gradually discovered, I gave myself the goal of chewable close subjects. I rediscovered color, gouache and especially watercolor. The watercolor allows quick sketches on the ground. Furthermore, I am enrolled in adult education classes at the Fine Arts Lorient (live model in previous years, painting this year). When I do my drawing (installed on a small folding in the street), I sometimes often being approached by passers begin to discuss with me, and sometimes teach me many things about what I draw. I love these moments of exchange !! So, in the comment I post with my drawing, I like to add some thoughts that help to learn a little more about it. I'm not trying to make "postcards" of the "nicer" places the city and surroundings. I prefer to look for common subjects, but become (in my eyes) by framing interesting that I chose, or the color contrast. My registration on Urban Sketchers stimulates my desire to draw a lot. First, see all these other ways to draw is very stimulating for my own work, then I like to exchange comments with other members and feel integrated in a small community of people sharing the same passion. In 2014 I participated at the invitation of Benedict Klene (chroni-eater of little things) 2 sketchcrawl in Rennes. I also met, during their passage through the corner, Sylvie (Bigoudène 46) and Martine (Pittet), a pleasure to exchange and draw with them. So I extended an invitation to all Urban Sketchers passage in Morbihan, to contact me if the mood takes them to a small sketch in the region. The subjects abound !! Thank you for welcoming me in the corresponding community! Gegedarris.blogspot.fr www.flickr.com/photos/106785043@N02/
