All right, back to where Jay J. Russell decides to take him to the Red River Co-op and meet Eva Gladby who takes him in. And we have to do some more background on her character. She's definitely going to be a no frills kind of woman, but with a soft heart and a little course with her words. The next morning Chris packs his bags and leaves them at the door, you know, just to let you know that you understand that he may not be able to stay. I just thought Eva, the earth's mom, all the time, but Eva Gladby. Where was I? He heads out to the firm. So Eva, he was there celebrating Cinco de Mayo meets the guys from the firm and that's when he discovers there is no internship, but he can count trees. And so Friday he goes out to lingua franca. Well, that's if he now, because this implies he stays in the night as a co-op. So he goes out looking for a job. Over time, the university's always got jobs. He's got to look. He, um... Did you have a laptop? Maybe. I'll get a figure that out. How does he go? Maybe he's a vet, student. He's at my phone, maybe. Maybe he just used the app on his phone to work for jobs. And, uh... How do you go from... Survey... Surveying jobs are civil engineering jobs to... Summer jobs... Summer language coach. That's what he finds. I can sit there and talk about all the different jobs that he gets turned down for. And maybe that's interesting. Did you have money? If you don't have money, then you can... He doesn't have a laptop. He needs to use internet cafes or something like that. Maybe he uses... What would you do if his sister phones she has? Where did you go? I mean, there's some internet cafes but everybody expects you to have a laptop nowadays. I'd just see what he does. Does he have one or not? Does he have an iPad? Maybe. Remember, he's... Doesn't have a lot of money. He's a veteran. I'm sure he got financial aid. Well, he's getting financial aid through the GI Bill. And remember to include that in chapter one because he cannot fail a class. He has to pass them all in order to continue getting aid. What else? You got to figure out what the job search... What is the figurative job search? The job is prosperity. How is prosperity found through accidents? Maybe. It's always more interesting when prosperity is found through accidents rather than through the expected means. So... At the table the idea of whether or not he has to have a tough time if he uses that to find a job. Or you don't even have to talk about it at all. Find a job with that. So anyway... The idea is that he still needs to be one who works with the... That will be in the conqueror. And... He'll have to convince her that he's good enough to be a language coach. I mean, the pace really low, which may have one more hitch. And he's got... He's got many other challenges he will in to fit the job in their college grad. So he's got to prove that he's more worthy than those college grads. But these leaps were there to prove that. And that changes the dynamic of the entire story. He's got to do something other than that to prove to her. Maybe Octavia has a brother who's stationed in Iraq. And maybe he's worked with him. Maybe he's true, but he knows whereabouts. Maybe he lies saying he's all right. Something like that. So anyway... Let's think about that later. He's paired up with a group that's just the late comers. They're all either weren't on the books. They didn't have the registration papers ready. Something happened to their papers. They just showed up. Because of the school's taken as many as possible. Because they need the money right now. And that's possible that he just gets her to the end with a bunch of other people who just want the job. And they're willing to take it. If that's the case then it makes him finding the job and getting there a lot easier. So maybe that's how he finds the job. He's just a big, kind of cattle call for language coaches. So anyway, he's told his go to the room. His students will be there. He gets to know them. And he'll give you the roster shortly. And he's just going to have to wing it because the printer is jammed. And the roster... I can't print the roster for you. So I'm going to be printing a bunch of roster. So just sit tight and you'll get yours in due time. So he comes to the room and there are five students sitting there. And the first thing he says is he walks in and is happy. And I think they give him blank stairs or perhaps they've argued there used to hearing that. These are the ones who have literally just arrived in Austin just like himself. You know that... We have to remember that Chris is someone who really likes sunglasses. And so he's always paying attention to people's glasses. And he... It is the device that represents how everybody has a frame of reference. Or everybody has their own augmented, their own device for augmenting reality. So there's a tie that all back in. But in any case... The first thing he notices are their sunglasses. Not the expressions on their face as well. I mean, in as much as he can without... Maybe one person is wearing their sunglasses. Now there's holding their sunglasses, tapping them. One's chewing on one. Another is using the tip of the sunglasses to type on something or phone. And one girl does not have sunglasses at all. I don't remember what are the different types of sunglasses and how they can represent or add more character to the individuals. And that's when he tries to get everyone to introduce themselves. And it's like, well, let's do what's most natural. Let's go around the room and introduce yourself. And people start getting up and walking around. Like, no, I don't think literally. Just sit down. We're gonna... Each one of you just tell me your name in order when I point to you. And since let's start with you. It starts with Yapping first. And then... Or maybe it starts with... Because these older wives are the two. Maybe he's the one who tells the others. Sit down. It just means introducing. Sit down.
