Alright, it's 420 March, it's 7238, I can't remember. And I'm heading home and I just got a couple of ideas for some other chapters like we need to discover that the tooth, that Amina's family, essentially Amina's mom and his dad were engaged to be married and his dad essentially left her at the altar. Let's put it that way. So what song is associated with that moment? Well, I think Love is a battlefield. I pat Venetarves the best one. So that's going to be one of those moments where like they're both sitting with their backs against the balcony. Or he imagines her sitting with her back against the balcony and they kind of share this moment where they know they're essentially part of to feuding families now. Almost like Romeo and Juliet. So obviously I'm going to have to bring in Romeo and Juliet to... Another moment is when he discovers... The letter, kind of the smoking gun letter that show that where his mom is basically saying, I'm sorry to hear that you broke up with... It's called a mechda for now. But maybe there's some sentence in there where he's like... And then he knows his mom basically had a hand in it and said... You know... I think of something that she could have said that we clearly indicate to his dad that her intentions to come to Egypt and marry him or that she still loves him are real. I was thinking of... The Stephen Nick song stand back because that's essentially mechda's reaction to him where he's telling her, you know, sorry and she basically kicks him out and descends into her. You know, world of... Descends into a depression. What else? So I was thinking more about the kind of the direction that the illustrations, the art direction they were going to take. I really like, you know, because the mind of a budding 12-year-old is, you know, the album covers in front of him. And, you know, his tape case, the cigarettes, things that, you know, he can visualize. You know, the balcony where he sits and sketches. So he's going to have like, you know, a little journal that he keeps with him. I don't know what kind of sketching he's going to do because I'm guessing that it might have to be all ballpoint sketches. Unless, you know, I think of something else. I mean, you know, kids who sketch clearly can't. I mean, there's very few who can do, like, full-on cartoonist style sketching. But I got to think about, you know, what set of tools, you know, he would have. So yeah, I'm getting closer. I'm getting to the point where he discovers the smoking gun letter and he discovers that Amina is, in fact, Magda's daughter. And so Amina has a... I mean, she was raised to hate him. Well, let's put it this way. By association with the family across the street, she was raised to hate him, but not know why. And... But he doesn't know anything about her and he discovers it. Not... I mean, she doesn't... She sees his father in him as a man who leaves women. So, you know, your dad left my mom even though your dad's not my dad and you're not my cousin or anything like that. But I'm not going near you. You're voodoo. You know, you're bad, bad luck. Your father gave my mom bad luck and now he just gave you your mom bad luck. So I'm staying away from you. So... What else? Oh yeah, so like that. Oh, there was another good song. Come on, feel the noise. Like, quiet, right? That's totally... And rock the casbah. I mean, both of those are good songs about like, you know, when the first gets to Egypt, he describes... He describes the place. You know, it's a very disoriented, the jolting feeling. It's unsettling. You know, he hears, you know, taxi horns or just not even taxi horns. All car horns. He hears... He's a jolting, just normal shouting. He could go into a chapter just on the shouting. There is arguments. There is. And shouting to get, you know, just to talk. And then there's screaming. There's laughter. All different kinds of stuff. He's used to a very, you know, quiet place. This is not it. There's noises like the embooba, the salesman, the guy who sells the propane, banging on his propane tank. And there's the fruit and produce sellers who scream and out what they are selling. There's the junk collector who roba biggie. There are all the kids playing soccer every day out in the street. And I think one day he gets fed up and he just takes his... If he's allowed to bring his boombox, it takes his jam box and just blow airs in. You know what? That would be a good way to catch Amina's attention. Aside from the fact that he's there, he's one thing that he's there and she may know who he is. It's another to spark her interest. So yeah, besides it would give him a nickname other than Hoaga. They could give him a nickname from one of the songs he plays. And you know, he could, you know, on that last day where he actually does play either basketball or football with the neighborhood crew. He could actually... They would let him play the song again. This time they would like it, but they would hate it in the beginning. In fact, that first moment when he decides to play it out in the neighborhood, put it on the balcony and play it. His uncle will come over and stop the thing. And then he'll hear him talk into the people in the street. Who is there in Malish? He's there in Malish. Maybe he'll say something to them. You know, leave him alone. He's still grieving over his dead father. That's what also spark Amina's interest. That his father is dead. Yeah, and that's what it'll actually be. So yeah, so that day that, you know, maybe it's the day they come back from the museum where he's all freaking out. Or, you know, maybe they... I gotta think of a song for that. But like, yeah. Yeah. The mummy's really, really bothered him. But, yeah. So maybe we have progression where it arrives in Egypt. It goes to pyramids, but you know, and then what else does he do? The first thing? Yeah. In fact, he did the first day there, he goes to pyramids. And then after the pyramids, what do you do? What do you do? A museum? Maybe. I don't know. All the tours take you in the pyramids. What else? I don't know. And then speed up time. Remember, his sketch is in his notes, his journal is what keeps him from, you know, to a cocoon. And then you get a trip to Alexandria. You gotta be Ramadan, Ramadan at night. Ramadan at Alexandria. What else? So, I'm gonna take the train to Alexandria. So there's the train station. But at what point does he decide to? He's through the closet and finds his parents' letter. When his batteries die on his headphones, and he's looking for batteries, right? Well, he could just find the box and say, oh, a bunch of letters, my mom's letters. And just, you know, but then when it sees Amina, something could trigger him to like, want to learn more. And she could show him that she has a picture of his dad. And then she could remember that he saw it in the box of letters. And then he can sort through them. But let's go back further. What gets heard to even want to start talking to him? It's the chocolate cigarettes. He looks like his dad when he's fake smoking. When he's imitating a smoker with the chocolate cigarettes. And just for fun, maybe at the end of the story, you know, when he's hiding out with Amina in the theater, they might actually get their final chance to smoke a cigarette and hate hell hate it or something like that. He's like, I don't know if he's going to like that. He's like, I'm going to cough up a lump while he's doing it. He goes to the store. Well, he rummages around. Doesn't find anything. But, you know, he takes note that there's a box there with a bunch of letters in it. So he, you know, begs his mom for someone here who's uncle and he walks down to the store. And he has to learn how to say, I said, he's a cheater, he's a bataryat. And then that's when he sees also the chocolate cigarettes. And he buys some chocolate cigarettes as well. And when he comes back, he's kind of clandestine about it. Even though he has just chocolate cigarettes, he doesn't want to show them to anyone. He's still going to be like, yeah, they're candy that it's funny, but they're still, I don't want anyone thinking you're smoking. So he still hides, but he goes to the balcony and they're always downstairs, you know. And so he goes to the upstairs balcony and decides to smoke the cigarettes on his own. And then he goes to the balcony and says, yeah, it's going to stay well. And I took a puff on it. I didn't know what to do with it. I just blew through it. Sure enough, the smoke came out. But it only came out on the first blow. Nothing else came out after that. So I just ate the chocolate. And then I did the next one. And that's how he... But then, so what does Amina do? I mean, how does... how does... so she sees him on the balcony and he looks just like his dad smoking the cigarette. This man that she has a picture of. And she... She's staring at him. Yeah, she's staring at him. She can't... it's one of those stairs where like she's studying him, but she's studying him with tension. And I saw her looking at me and I couldn't tell if it was me or if it was something else behind me. It was there a monster. And she was looking at me. And I looked there and I waved, hello. She kept staring. And then... that's when he knew she was there. And... but he didn't know why she was there. And he didn't know like where her family was. And basically, she and her brother... she was always in the house. And her brother was always downstairs. And her mom and dad or her mom got to figure out what happened to her mom. And I was wondering... Who? Yeah, I'm going to have to think about that because I don't know if she should be there or maybe she's a journalist and she's always traveling. Yeah. Her dad... well, he never saw her dad. So... But the next time she sees him, what does she do? He's still... he's sketching away and smoking. It's the next day. And she somehow asks him, who are you? Or... asks him... Let's see... She's going to show him a picture of his father. But I just don't know if it's going to be right away. Because like... She found it one time in her mom's stuff. She knows where it is and so she can sneak it out and put it back. But... She's going to show him a picture of his father. And she's going to show him a picture of his father. How can you see? Is it far away? Is it close? Is he no right away? It's his dad. Maybe. I'm going to pause it for now because I've got a lot to think about.
