How a hole in my shutter curtain became a happy little accident.

Just thought I’d share my Leica “hole in shutter curtain” experience.  I happened with my M6 Classic in Japan last year.  I developed the film when I returned to the States and as I started inspecting the negatives, I discovered a white spot (or sometimes a stripe) on ALL OF THEM.  I was shocked, furious and sad.  I thought my photos were ruined.  Unfortunately, this was also how I learned how easily you can damage your shutter curtain.  I won’t get in to HOW I think it happened, but let’s just say my (now repaired) camera is in a very dark and safe place, that ONLY I know about.  After I recovered from the shock, I decided to go back and edit the photos, to see what I could get out of them.  Surprisingly, I could recover most of the composition in several photos.  I also learned to channel Bob Ross and accept that they’re just "happy little accidents.”

All photos were taken with my M6 classic and SUMMICRON-M 50mm f/2 lens.
