Talking to a stuffed falcon that she carries on her shoulder.  She’s never been the same ever since her mom died.  The superstitions of the locals convince them that she’s waiting for her to be reincarnated.  “Yes that bird will come alive one day”. I heard that she visited Senora (Aztec bird name) and she told her this.

And then what?  Is she just gonna fly away with it?

No she’s gonna teach it to tear your tongue out!  Get back to work...

The office manager of the paper felt sorry for her.  She was a good friend of her mother so she gave her a clerical job at the local paper.  All she had had to do was process classified applications.

Then Horace walks into the office.  “I like your falcon” he says as he hands her his application for a disposal well advertisement.  “It’s a peregrine right?”

As she started to speak a small feather seemed to appear out of nowhere and roost itself right on a lock of Rosa’s hair.

You know Peregrinos? (In Spanish) As Rosa spoke the feather fluttered back and forth as if it were still attached to a wing.  Horace laughed awkwardly.  “You have something,” he motioned with his finger to his forehead.
