How can the characters of Florence, Nora and Shareef parallel that of the holy trinity?  Nora (the mother), Florence (the daughter) and Shareef (the holy spirit).  Perhaps it is a female holy trinity.  Shareef does not necessarily have to be male because he is manifested through the letters and then it is the daughter's image of him that draws her to him.
