Cotton farmers who decided to sell the farm for organic purposes only.  However they kept the mineral rights and made their money off of oil leases.  They live in Houston now and want Rosa-Alethe to live with them.  But they are supportive of her and want her to be happy.  They want to help her financially but she won’t let them.  (Contradiction?).  In she struggling financially?
