Amina and Omar are sitting in the back of an outdoor cinema in Alexandria.  What movie?  And how did they find a place/time to be alone?  It is their last moment together.  In the morning Omar will leave for Cairo and back to the states.

She has a single cigarette and offers to share it with him.  The cigarette represents closure for Omar and Amina, a burning of the past, so to speak.  After smoking it the will be able to enter a new phase of their lives, one that allows them to get along better with their family and one that allows them to forgive those who’ve hurt them.  Amina will forgive her mother and Omar will forgive his father (for dying) and mother.

The scene ends with Omar kissing Amina and then leaving, promising to write to her (even in Arabic).
