“…I met the artists in Moscow a couple months after this exploit, and asked Lenya if he wasn’t afraid of being attacked or arrested. “Our society has lived in fear for so many decades, we are trying to wake it by kicking it,” he replied.”  [Read more on BBC New Europe ]

Wow, this story was very interesting. It appears it’s obvious that Voina will do whatever it takes to take a stand on his position that he believes in. It is not right for businessman or bearuocrats to abuse the use of emergency lights. It is also not right for people to get arrested and placed in a filthy cell without any sufficient evidence. Lenoid and Oleg, being members of a radical art collective, can obviously be very scary and frightening being targeted at times. Until this article, I never heard of a radical art collective. It is a good way to have a nonviolent protest, but it is also considered vandalism. I don’t believe in destroying objects to make a point. Turning over a police vehicle is only going to get the police officers and businessman upset. Damaging items to make a point takes away their moral standing. How can one make a point by doing something immoral themselves? Of course it is not right for police officers to abuse their privileges but what the protestors are doing also is not right as well. To wrongs don’t make a right and technically, the protestors appear just as bad as the officers. I am all for non violent protesting and protests that do not cause harm to anything or anyone. There is a better way to make a point without making the opposing party upset. Fight clean and with the highest moral position. Lead by example.
