A comparative analysis of his work with Hammerstein and Hart lyrics before the music or music before the lyrics.

Characterizes RR as a scizophrenic composer because of the differences between Climb Every Mountain and Manhattan Medley two pieces written at different parts of his career.

Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' is a great description of the beginning of the story.  The first chapter.  The fresh Florence.

I Didn't Know What Time It Was can be used to convey F's state when she broke down after reading Shareef's letters again.

Where or When provides a great visual to the moment When they finally meet, perhaps on their first morning together (after they've truly physically met).  The song is remarkable because it has a continuous ascending scale that lasts eight bars.  An expression of the elation, the joy, or a foreshadowing of the happiness "ever after".  John Eaton say "it takes guts" as he demonstrated it on the piano.  The rhythm was already laid out and the words simply followed it.

Some Enchanted Evening.  I never knew that "Stranger across a crowded room" came from this song.

In the commentary around Some Enchanted Evening and My Romance Eaton mentions that the latter is pleasant to listed to because it feels as if the stage is gone.  He is writing the music before the words.  Wilder doesn't like it [find reference in the book] "I'm in church and it's the wrong hymnal."
