Molière, whose original name was Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, was baptized on January 15, 1622 in Paris, France. Considered one of the greatest comic dramatists of all time, the playwright and actor is known best for works including Le Misanthrope, L'Ecole des femmes, Tartuffe, L'Avare ou L'École du mensonge, Le Malade imaginaire, and Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. He died on February 17, 1673.
