Canopic Stories and resolution

Each story represents a canopic jar (points on the compass).  They are discovered by the pro tag int he well of souls.  He initially discovers that his own story is blank (e.g. his soul has left him).  Two time sequences; the stories themselves and his time in the well and the present in which he is slowly changing and becoming a better father and husband.

After each story is told to him and he completes a task, he gains part of his story back (an organ, a canopic jar for a good deed that will last).  Finally, when he realizes that afterlife really means just being a good person to others, his soul comes back to him.  Afterlife is when people remember you for the good that you have done to others.
