In 1969, American writer Sarah E Wright (born December 9, 1928) published her first and only completed novel, This Child’s Gonna Live. A portrayal of the Depression-era struggles of a black woman and her family in a Maryland fishing village, the book was noted for its female perspective on the black experience and declared a “small masterpiece” by The New York Times.
