When Adam first meets Nut, she performs a trick for him.  She spits the sun out of her mouth to create daylight and swallows it again to create the night.  When she spits up the sun, it seems lifeless.  "He is sleeping and won't wake up until morning."

When Adam doesn't believe that Nut is real, she convinces him by retelling some significant facts about his life.

You are Adam, son of Alchem the priest of the elements and Ima instructor of the scribes.  They placed you on this world in hopes that you would become a great creator.  Alchem taught you how to turn water into wine, coal into gold and sand into steel.  Your mother Ima taught you how to observe your surroundings and   You're apprenticeship has come into question.  Your soul has informed on you and wishes to leave.  This is a grave offense and you must now pay the price.  You are hereby placed in limbo and have until the next inundation of the waters before Anubis decides your fate.  His decision is based on the weighing of your heart and the testimony of your Ba.  If found worthy, your Ba will return to you, if not, your days are numbered and you will die without ascending to the afterlife.

He thinks this is all a hallucination and says so, "What is this lady talking about?"  Dad was a chemist and mom was an accountant?  And who the hell is Alchem and Ima?
