Kodak Reflex II - Shutter Disassemby 1/9

Simultaneously unscrew the taking and viewing lenses. Just force them over the stop in the gears to get them all the way unscrewed. Note front element of the taking lens has a left hand thread and the front element of the viewing lens has a right hand thread. Now unscrew the second cell of the taking lens, this one has a right hand thread.

This was very helpful to a point. I never could get the front elements back on right. Another thing to clutter the attic now.

Hi Markus-- thank you this was helpful! I added some grease to the threads on the main lens elements and my camera is smooth, BUT how do you know if the taking and viewing threaded pieces are aligned? I should have marked them with a pen or something to get in the right place. HELP! Any advice?

There are four little set screws on each lens holding the silver geared ring in place (from the inside out, look at the front of the lenses and you'll see them). If I remember correctly, you need to loosen them and then you can fine tune the focus and make the two lenses be synchronized. You may even be able to slide the silver geared ring off (I cannot remember -- it's been to long that I've worked on this camera.) Good luck!

Fantastic photos! I just used your guide to remove the lenses from mine, only now I can't for the life of me get them back on! Do you happen to remember if there's a trick to getting them past the stops in the gears?

You just force them past the stop. There is enough flex between the two lenses that you can get past the stop in the gears with a little bit of torque. Don't use a tool, just twisting both lenses with your hands will be enough to get them past it.

Thank you! I’ll have to give it another try :)
