I was in Egypt with my wife.  She was finishing her research at the Cairo Museum.  Her focus of study was on the role of women in Ancient Egypt.  Her thesis was that ancient Egyptian art revealed the changes in the role of women.  The stelae was the story in which people revealed their lives.  They often embellished the truth of their lives but every now and then there was one that offered a believable account of the deceased’s life.  

The scrapbook, picture album has similarities to the stelae.
