Llano Estacado, art of leeching and caliche

To inhabit the Llano Estacado one must master the art of leeching.  To this extent, one survives by cultivating their inner caliche, a layer that materializes through the gradual bleeding of nutriment.  Without this impenetrable film, the gentle core would evaporate, robbing the individual of their aqueous innocence, their safe harbor of beneficence.  Those who bear a firm caliche will endure the discontent brought on by the abandoned tabular expanse of the caprock, bathe in the pang of the arid droughts and savor the stinging sand storms that flood the air.
