Adam's boredom was gradually increasing at the dump.  He wasn't involved in the fighting and the only Iraqi's he ever saw were the village kids that taunted him each day out of their own frustration at not being able to dive into that trash of gold.  This all changed when  he was hit with a chicken one day.  The kids built a homemade slingshot from an old bicycle inner tube .  Two kids would hold it down while the strongest of them (he looked like a young Saddam Hussein) pulled it back and launched a chicken made out of trash at him.
