Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes and Thimble Peak
Let's hear it for that classic Kodak Ektar look that brings the right amount of warmth, saturation and grain. As you can see, I wasn’t the earliest bird out at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes the morning I took this photo but who cares. The presence of the other visitors really help contextualize this shot. That's Thimble Peak in upper right corner of the shot. I didn't know that at the time I took the shot, so I thought I'd look it up in Google Earth. It was actually much more difficult than I thought. I was constantly disoriented as I switched back and forth from aerial and ground view. Luckily I found this cool app called PeakVisor that identified the peak from one of my iPhone pictures (2nd photo) taken at the same time.
