One should never write down or up to people, but out of yourself.

Christopher Isherwood

British writer Christopher Isherwood (born August 26, 1904) collaborated with the poet W. H. Auden on three plays during the 1930s and, on his own, produced highly regarded novels about Berlin that inspired the play I Am a Camera and the musical Cabaret. After immigrating to the United States, he wrote A Single Man (considered his finest achievement), about a day in the life of a gay professor; Colin Firth and Julianne Moore starred in the 2009 movie adaptation.
