The prologue is the mechanism by which Florence (and the reader) learns of FOH as an uninformed outsider.

FOH proves a distilled summary of what it’s about by summarizing the past questions and answers in a prologue. (Example: in the year 655 the advisor to the Penda of Mercia asked the following: If FOH is an order for good in the world then why must we remain silent?)
