Goodreads Quote of the Day for Friday
A lot of truths about the living world are recorded in bad books; they are just badly written about.
Austrian novelist Joseph Roth (born September 2, 1894) is best known for The Radetzky March, a sentimental account of the last days of the Habsburg empire of Austria-Hungary, before World War I. He served in the Austrian army during the war and then worked as a journalist in Vienna and Berlin. Eventually he immigrated to Paris, where he lived for the rest of his life, producing novels of nostalgia that looked back at a more politically stable time.
