Thea von Harbou, born December 27, 1888, was a German actress, director, screenwriter and novelist best known for co-writing the science fiction film Metropolis with her husband Fritz Lang and authoring the 1925 novel on which it was based. Set in a futuristic dystopia, the classic expressionist film is considered one of the great achievements of the silent era.
