Barbara Grizzuti Harrison (born September 14, 1934) became nationally known for her 1978 book Visions of Glory: A History and a Memory of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which described the dozen years she spent as a member of the religious group. Among her other popular titles are the travel book Italian Days, the novel Foreign Bodies, and the nonfiction account Unlearning the Lie: Sexism in School. She was also known as an excellent interviewer, with subjects such as Gore Vidal, Joan Didion, and Jane Fonda.
