Celebrated Chinese poet Ai Qing (born March 27, 1910) was imprisoned for opposing the Kuomintang as a young man. He then joined the Communist Party but was later exiled and not allowed to publish his poetry. Ai is the father of Chinese artist and provocateur, Ai Weiwei.
