The daughter of a suffragette, Emily Hahn (January 14, 1905-February 18, 1997) was an American journalist and author of more than 50 books and over 200 articles for The New Yorker. Hahn journeyed solo to the Belgian Congo, crossed Africa on foot, and spent nine adventurous years in the Far East. She wrote books on subjects as diverse as China, Mary, Queen of Scots and apes.
