Okay, it's Thursday February 28th. In the car on my way to work. I wanted to continue kind of brainstorming about flight of horse and story one. So I think I want to alternate, obviously, the two stories. I want the main story to be kind of a parallel to the actual story in the flight of horse. So the introduction of Florence and perhaps her discovery of the world of pen pals. And how she slowly starts to, you know, she goes from one penpal to a network of pen pals within a year. And the kind of antics and fun things they do is kind of described in that first chapter. And ultimately, I think they'll converge because at some later point Florence will pose the idea of the flight of horse to her penpal networks. And essentially, you know, the concept that she wants to, or the idea, what she wants to convey is that I want to bestow or endow this story, and not just myself, but all the other pen pals. We want to endow it and give it to the world. So keep spreading it. Essentially, will the scroll come to you one day? And will it be your job to tell it? I have to pause here for one second because I am seeing I'm driving past a light pole which appears to either have a beautiful broad shouldered hawk on top of it. Yeah, it has to be, or yeah, that's a hawk. I thought at first it was a turkey vulture, but it's a beautiful broad shouldered hawk. And I haven't even left Petaluma yet. So anyway. So the idea is, yeah. So back to the story of creation and Florence's introduction. The story of creation, each story in the flight of horse will be told by two pen pals. They will collaborate. And is there a job to collaborate and ultimately put the story down for eternity into the scroll? And the creation story, I believe, will be told by a girl from Ethiopia, modern day Ethiopia, or perhaps a girl from Switzerland and a boy from Ethiopia. And essentially, it's kind of a postmodern look at the concept of creation and how we must accept the creation myth the same way we have to accept a story. So we have to believe it. We have to believe the narrator is sincere and we have to believe that, and here I'm possibly foreshadowing, we have to believe that the framework created or the framework constructed in the creation story is essentially all that is needed for the rest of the stories. So in your classic biblical creation, the seven days define the contemporary work week. We need the sun. We see the sun every day. How was it created or where did it come from? The things that make our world acceptable and normal and a good, happy place have to emerge from this story. And likewise, the things that we struggle with every day, but they don't overtake us or in some cases they do. But those things also have to be created but have to be contained within the story. I also thought about possibly not telling the story, telling how the story was made or talking about the collaboration. And that might be an interesting aspect of retelling the story because perhaps it actually does point to the fact that even our creation myths were, we can't have them without someone having conceived of them. No one observed, you can't observe creation. It just happens. So for us to even talk about it, maybe the creation story is lost. We don't know. It's a good, you know, it might, it might actually be more interesting to be told this way than, than to actually tell a creation myth. And why is it being given to someone in Switzerland and someone in Ethiopia? No, we can talk about how Sir Flinders' petri, I believe, no, I'm thinking of someone else. The man who discovered Lucy in the Old Vigorge, perhaps his ideas were just being discovered at the time or being published. And so we can talk about how evolution versus creation, we can talk about what kind of impact did the discovery of such an early human being have on the world, especially that discovery was in Africa. Are there aspects of creation that we simply want to believe, or we have reshaped in order to sustain this flawed view or this delusioned view of the world? I think there's lots to tell. Switzerland, you know, at the time, maybe the height of, you know, could be Switzerland or Sweden. Maybe it could be Sweden where because, you know, they hand out the Nobel Peace Prize, also, you know, the awards for science. So, you know, there can be in some ways considered the height of one's analytical and logical achievements. Yeah, so, I think that would be really interesting to tell. Now, I think it's important to understand the dynamics of how this penpal network is going on. And so, in some ways, having, you know, having these two discuss, having these two not only collaborate and talk about what the story of creation should be, but it is important. So, in some ways, like I think I've read somewhere in science fiction anthologies, you know, the first story does kind of set the stage for really some of the most basic things you should expect. So, what are the basic things that we should expect here? We should expect stories that crossover, stories that merge culture, stories that, you know, should be told today in the globalist, you know, kind of not globalist and economic sense, but, you know, the one world kind of one village kind of concept. So, yeah, you know, to talk about Greek mythology today, you can't just simply talk about Greek mythology, you have to compare it to other prevailing mythologies of the time. So, not only are we comparing, we're actually cherry picking the most salient or the most memorable or impactful kind of aspects to each of these stories. So, how does the creation story, where does the creation story fit in the superficial story, which is the story of how Florence simply discovers the penpal network and takes advantage of it. Perhaps we talk about the moment she first opened the letter was equivalent to like, had she not opened the letter, nothing would have transpired. The opening of the first letter was the beginning of it all. I mean, I guess she would have had to apply and I guess, but, yeah, I don't know. I mean, you can apply and then not hear back and then just pass it off or shrug it off. Excuse me. Perhaps it was the moment that maybe she got someone's letter by mistake and opened it. Maybe the girl who used to live in her house was named Florence and it was a personal letter and it was an airmail. Definitely more interesting. Let me pause it. I don't think about that.

Okay, so now in Saint-Refel and just had my breakfast and now I had a pretty cool idea about how to link creation, evolution, big bang, not talking about the creation story and talking about it at the same time. Florence's chapter, where we're actually talking about Florence discovering the pen pal network is the creation chapter and at the end of that chapter we learn that we learn that there is a scroll it has a creation story on it but that's about it. So here's what I'm thinking in terms of how you link the you know when I think of creation I think of big bang so I'm going to allude to that. Florence is holding Florence discovers a letter that was sent from from an overseas location I haven't decided if it's Egypt or somewhere else but you know it's got the international air mail, Pa Ravel, envelope and she you know it was sitting in the pile of mail. Well there was a stack of letters and it was sitting in the stack of letters her parents clearly grabbed the letters and then just or maybe she grabbed the mail before her parents came home something to that extent right yeah more or more than likely she grabbed the mail and set it on you know the kitchen table and then it was that was when it hit her that she should probably take that letter back to the post office and have it you know forwarded or returned to send her. And so in as she's walking you know down to the post office which is maybe a couple blocks away from her house. She uh she changes her mind about something I can't remember and avoids an accident you know she makes one small like change in her either perhaps she was going to cross the street or not cross the street or something to that extent or perhaps the you know the old lady who's from Mexico who's a beggar who lives you know sorry I had to avoid what appeared to be some scrap metal in the freeway. Yeah maybe the the old Mexican beggar woman maybe she's not a beggar maybe she's just you know a senile and she's with the farmers and she gets out every now and then she uh kind of notices Florence and grabs her and and starts muttering stuff in Spanish to her but Florence doesn't understand and uh but the point is is that the woman holds her back from crossing the street and and in fact what happens is a drunk driver runs into the corner mailbox dumping letters everywhere and so she just uh and she clearly sees all this mail getting lost definitely getting lost or damaged uh but she you know she she watches you know uh people come to the scene and but uh yeah that's essentially and then she she uh is so scared that she goes home you know and forgets that she didn't take the letter and uh you know when when she gets home her parents are there and she tells them what happened and uh her mother simply scolds her and says why didn't you just write return to sender and uh forward next time write forward or return to sender on it and just put it back in the mailbox whereas her father comes into her room later and consoles her and that's when she discovers um you know he tells her basically you you cared about you know these two you you don't their strangers to you but you could see that this was important uh so you uh you wanted to make sure that they are still able you know that their their correspondence can continue so you know he's making her feel good about at least the action she took but in the middle of the and so she goes to bed then I but in the middle of the night she just something wakes her up and this is perhaps how we can link the sleepwalking uh she wakes up the next morning and the letters been opened been opened we're not going to talk about the sleepwalking just yet um but uh it's important to kind of introduce it very loosely right now so um does Florence read the letter well the idea is that perhaps her sleepwalking self did and um uh discovers that you know there is a world outside of hers filled with many interesting people and uh and she and she definitely wants to be a part of it um how does she become a part of it that's that's a good question um does this letter is this letter the key to getting into the flight of horse society or not certainly does uh allow me to never have to deal with the pen friends international that would be kind of cool um um one thing she could do is try to write back to the sender and see what happens um you know so here's a here's a thought and I'm actually going to put it on the next audio file one sec

Okay, the thought is that Florence responds to the center. But does she impersonate the recipient? Does she impersonate the recipient? So here's the weird thing. We could either say it's addressed to a different Florence with the same name, same first name, but her last name is different and the male hasn't been forward and so she gets another Florence's letter. That's one way of looking at it. Another is that... Well, and to continue on that, then we either say she impersonates Florence and becomes Florence or it's a coincidence that her name is also Florence. So that's one. I do believe that we have to use fake names in the flight of Horace, but I don't know if this is how it all starts. So it could be kind of funny and a misunderstanding if her name really is Florence and she goes by Florence and then the sender tells her, you know, we all use fake names. So either your name really is Florence or you're just, you know that you need to make it up. So yeah. That will be interesting. Is it a coincidence that the girl who lived there before is named Florence? Does that lend itself to another story that we want to learn about? Like who is Florence and maybe she helps her along the way later? That's possible. Maybe turns out that she is also, you know, in the flight of Horace network and helps Florence essentially leave the country. Maybe Florence is physically traveling with the scroll to Egypt in the very end of the story. And this lady is working now as a ticketing agent at the airport and notices the scroll and is shocked. I mean Florence sees a ghost white face in front of her because you're never supposed to share the scroll with anyone. And so if you don't know what the scroll is, it would just look like another, you know, cardboard tube that you're carrying. But if you do know what it is, then you know that you've just met someone who's also in the flight of Horace network. And that would be, and that's unheard of because, you know, one of the, you know, kind of, the oath that you take is that you will never seek out another member of the flight of Horace. So, yeah, that's, so I think Florence, you know, after discovering that this is a private kind of network, the only thing that they feel compelled to do is accept her as a member, well, is to vet her as a member. And, yeah, and hope that she is worthy. So, yeah. And they get lucky. She is worthy. So, so that's the case, but is it a misunderstanding? Yeah, I mean, she's the one member whose name they really do know. And so they tell her, perhaps, so this person tells her, look, I know you're real name. But please, that will just be our secret. Okay, there's, you were not a member. And in fact, that person says, I cannot speak with you any further about this because I know you're real name. So, because I know who you really are, even if I've never met you, I cannot speak with you further about this. But I will say that you can apply for membership in the flight of Horace Network and remember that that's where you have to use a fake name and everything like that. But the problem is, is you need to know someone. And so, how then can you know someone and apply? Well, you do know so and so already. So, if you claim that you now, Florence in the intended recipient Florence has moved on to a new home and Florence does go to the post office to get the forwarding address. Now, how do they get the forwarding address? Back then, if mail, maybe it was just returned to sender at that point. I don't know. I mean, how do you know that it's not on the list? So, yeah, maybe if they didn't, well, they would have had a lot more problems. So, let's just say that maybe the mother and father's name were on the list. But the, because it is her, is not her real name. Yeah, and so the postal agent tells her there's no one there by that name. So, there's nothing to forward. Florence was like, well, I know for a fact that this girl has moved on. Is it possible that, you know, she may have had a sister? And so, that's another kind of way that she has to figure out how to kind of sweet talk the postal agent into getting the forwarding address of this person that, although the names do not match, it is the real person behind the name Florence. That's pretty good. So, then once she discovers, so once she has the real name of the girl named Florence, she can then use her as a sponsor to enter into the flight of horse network. Now, she has to get an application. She has to, you know, then, so yeah, it'll be interesting because let's say we're dealing with someone from Greece. And the Greek person tells her, look, you weren't supposed to receive that. I know who you are, so you can't really be. Of course, this would make it sound as if, so this, if I go this route, then I can't use the, I knew who you were all along kind of approach later in the story to house, you know, for when Florence comes clean. So, there's two approaches. There's, there's, um, Florence sending mail back and forth to Selim impersonating the girl who goes by the name Florence. And Selim is not fooled that this is not the same Florence. He's not fooled at all that he's, you know, that he just received. Because he also won, he started getting new mail from Florence. So, it was just a fluke that he missed her by, you know, a month or so. And, you know, she, she moved on to a new place. And I am going to say Atlanta for now, or St. Louis. Let's say St. Louis, she moved to St. Louis. And, um, and so, he already received a new letter from her. And, so he already knows that he's not talking to the right Florence.
