Adam's Dump Story Unabridged
Adam will continue to tell the story of his experience at the dump. The climax, his stroke induced snake bite is told rather short and succinct because it's not the story. There's more to it, just as there's more to the story of how he came to be. He will ultimately tell how he found the snake and knew how to trap it and take care of it in the dump. He will tell how he ultimately wanted to get out of the War and his active duty by letting that snake bite him. He wanted to die, but instead life brought him back.
What is Adam's method of narration. It's rather unreliable. He's scatterbrained and never on task. It's kinda like serendipitous moments you have when browsing or just following links on the Internet. You stumble upon precious little photos or videos that would, in some ways seem absolutely meaningless in any other context. But you decide to listen to that song or watch that viral video because it's better than paying your bills, finishing that paper or tabulating the TPS report due to your boss by 9 AM. Adam keeps stumbling upon things that have meaning to him and he shares those atomically instantaneous de ja vu's with the reader.
Adam's stumblings, followings, friends, navigations, searches throughout Europe lead him to Egypt with the help of the downtrodden. He also does not traveling in the traditional manner (by airplane, bus or train) because his experience as individual augmentee, has left him distrustful of planes, buses and trains. This also allows him to sail around the world since he never really got to serve in the Navy and work on a ship. He trusts the water. It is the strongest force on Earth and man cannot stop it. A river doesn't have a dead end. Simple geography gives you ample time to know you're near the ocean or a mountain.
In London he is helped by a former Bosnian translator whom he mistakes for a Russian. With her help he takes a ferry to France. He hitches rides on canal boats until he gets to
