This will play a big role in the story because it will start off with a dream/nightmare of the protagonist jumping from a bridge and losing his Ba ("Soul") in the process.  He will assume it's just a dream but the following night will prove that he has indeed lost his soul and it won't return until he provides a good story.  (scribe in the house of the soul).

This will fit into the Egyptian belief that everyone has prophetic dreams.  Therefore, dreams and stories will converge and manifest themselves in the present time and the story progresses.

If the Bible has stories that mimic Egyptian history (or literature), then what does that say about modern Christianity, Judaism and Islam?  Were these religions conceived out of dream interpretations?

What are the parallels in the Engraver's Apprentice and the Biblical Joseph?
