This is a coming of age story, so where’s the coming of age part? The protagonist will learn a little about love (not lust) and a little more about where his father came from. He will get a little closer to accepting his father’s death and his anger at Egypt will subside.
The goodbye scene will definitely involve hime speaking some Arabic to his cousins and promising to write and call more often.
