Rosa-Alethea and Horace are on their mock honeymoon and have just finished a two-night stay at the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan. During the day they took a ferry to the botanical gardens which were on an island in the middle of the Nile. They grew bored of the place of his birds and beautiful plants and flowers and decided to take a boat back to the hotel.

On the way to the docks they were accosted by an aggressive boat captain who insisted he was going to take them to the hotel but instead he took them down further south down the Nile and insisted he would show them better wildlife then was at the gardens. Too tired to argue with him Horace and Rosa-Alethea decided they would cater to him and let him guide them Through the cataracts of the Nile.

As they meandered through the rocks he told them wild stories of how travelers were stuck and that the Cataracs themselves were a wall to Egypt the only way to get to Egypt was denial and no one could sail through the cataracts so in terms of ancient Egypt they were at the border there was nothing beyond us one.through the cataracts of the Nile.
