It is roses last day in Egypt and the story it’s fading.
What has Rosa seen? Where has she traveled? What happens between her and Horace?
When does she find the letters left in Egypt?
This is the mystery. Florence not only was a story in her local newspaper but she was also an employee. Rosa found a letter that was never sent to Selim and she swore that she would send it or find out why it was never sent.
At the end of the story, Rosa meats Florence. But Florence is no longer who she was. Florence is in a catatonic state, a vegetable. She can no longer talk and therefore cannot reveal anything about her story. Perhaps this is why Horace kept his story as a secret and did not tell Rosa about it. He was embarrassed and didn’t want to relive the days when his mother was a vibrant woman of the world.
