Testing, testing, so I'm in the car and I'm listening to Arthur C. Clark's 2001 Space Odyssey and we're in the chapter dealing with the man-eighths and he suggested something in the story at one that they were almost extinct suggesting that you know just because you know you have opposable thumbs and you can walk upright and you have a larger brain didn't mean that everything was cut out for you and so that's pretty fascinating that he took that approach. Another thing that was interesting was how one of the man-eighths had no idea who was his father because of the social nature of the tribe or a group you know they're technically I don't even know if you would call them a tribe yet but yeah I mean I guess he knew he had an ape that took care of him who was a female ape that was his mom but I don't even know if he knew she was his mom and a male ape who perhaps was jealous of him who was his father but he didn't know this and I'm curious is the you know how these two dynamics that I mentioned could be what their value is in the story I mean it seems like a really cool approach to kind of like not just science fiction but this is evolutionary fiction or perhaps it's you know based on you know some evolutionary evidence but still very fascinating
