Testing, testing, one, two, three.
Okay, so it's January 27th, 517pm. I just left the photo lab where I picked up my prints as well as Mike Salazar's prints. Well not prints but negatives. I guess he's had his negatives scanned as well as... well he's had him rescanter, I think. I don't unless he... oh he must have had some old film that he never shot. So anyway, I'm on sixth street heading north. Just past university, hoping to get on at Gilman. It's too crowded at university. So yeah, we'll only talk about. I just realized today I want a star award and I... today we had our UDAR Town Hall. I didn't show the film for me because they did the star award. And that's when I was recognized. I should have been there. But I wasn't and honestly it looked like my whole team wasn't there because I'm saying John wasn't there. So anyway, what do I want to talk about? Rosa Alifia has a secret. And she is kind of indebted to Horace because he promised to buy her plane to get home. She has somehow got caught up in a... kind of a goose chase. I don't know if the wild goose chase, but she... a chase after Horace in an effort to tail him. She ended up in Egypt. She ended up kind of conning her way into a one-way ticket in hopes of finding what. This book that she lost... We'll say maybe... I mean, how much regret would have to be over this book? Would there be a reward in the book? Could be, you know, maybe it's not so much a mysterious book as it is. Simply someone's journal that said, I will pay, you know, $5,000 to someone who finds my book simple as that. Find my book. Get the money. What if it's old? You know? What if it's been dated 1952? What's the point? What is the money worst today? No, this book has to be something that looks like it's immediately valuable. It has to look valuable the way a family member is valuable. How can a book do that? Well, that's the thing maybe when she was reading it she felt as if she felt the warmth of her mother return. And she had never felt that before. She felt the security of childhood. It's possible to get that kind of a strong reaction out of a book. I mean, you know, what crazy things have been done? Because people have simply loved books. There's lots of books out there that have caused crazy and strong reactions out of people. Both sane and insane. I think that's what I have to emphasize here. Is that Rosa Alitia Yes. Felt the truth of this book. And from this feeling she had to own it. She had to consume it. She had to protect it and possess it. So she you know out of of but the book had a message. And it said if you do not return me to my home, you will I will no longer exist. And so that was basically like hearing, you know, the sound, the voice of a lost soul. It was you know, standing in a train station and noticing a wandering traveler looking for their lost loved one. It was like watching. I've seen in a movie where you know a child is this is pulled from the grips of their mother and father. Now just to pause here for a second, I am just passing Marina Bay Parkway exit and I can see the marine layer coming over Mount Tim. And it is just incredible. It looks like you know a mountain range. It must be really strong today. Oh and I should also note that today is the first day after Kobe Bryant's death. Yesterday was a sad day and today is also a very sad day for those who held Kobe Bryant dear to their hearts. I am sorry for their loss. I don't really know. It's a shocking horrible story. Yeah, let's just leave it at that. I mean to watch you know to in some ways, you know, reading that that line inside the book. If you do not return me to my home, I will no longer exist. It is like imagining a world that that moment where you are gone. I have to double check when the whole alien Gonzalez story emerged in the news. Maybe there's also a possibility to reference, you know, a historical event for more context. So Rosa Alitia has this strong reaction to this book she's found. And the only home she knows for this book is where she found it. So there's two possibilities here. We can either have Rosa Alitia return it to the place where she found it. Only to come back the next day and see the book gone. Or she can hold on to the book and literally return it to Egypt. At two it's right floater. I'm looking at it. Causing here for a second I'm now on the Richmond Santhbell Bridge.
Okay, I am back on the 101 heading south now. Let me just test the audio.
Okay the audio is fine. It's 537. 101. South. January 27. And yeah. Yeah. So I got... I feel like I'm really stuck here. And I don't want to be stuck. I want this to be something I can write about. I guess if I can prove that one can be moved by a book... and not be entirely crazy... it will work. But then again the flawed protagonist... what's wrong with a flawed protagonist? It's perfectly reasonable reason to go is wrong. Remember who she is. She is no different than Florence who will become Haida. So it makes sense that she has this impulsive side. But she has to have nothing around her anymore. Nothing worth staying in La Mesa for. Well you know... one... you know... she's no different than Florence in the sense that she don't like it. And you can say that... you could say that about Love of Two. Two. What was she gonna do? Maybe she had some money saved. And that somehow got taken away from her. Is it possible that she could have lost her traveler's checks? Or they could have been invalid? Do I really want to parallel? She has to sober up on the plane, period. And I don't mean from alcohol. She has to suddenly realize the impulsiveness of what she's done, the craziness of what she's done. This was an immature step without really knowing where it would take her. It was the step of a child who does not know danger. Some might call it a leap of faith, but faith shouldn't be misunderstood. It's a definitely a leap, but more a leap of naivete. And why is she willing to tell Horace what she's just done? If she would basically spill the beans, and he would suddenly realize that he's actually part of this. He might run, or he might help her, but why not keep him in the state of having the upper hand? Or believing he has the upper hand? One where all he has to do is pay for her ticket home. Now, if he were to convince her that they hear something, he would have convinced her to arrive in Dina's name. Then it would go on record that she entered the country, therefore she could leave in Dina's name. The airline does not care. There is no reason why they would hold you if you haven't shown up. If you miss one leg of the trip and you catch the next leg, they don't care. And that's what he explains to her. And that's how he's going to help her return. But she simply has to marry him and act like Dina in order to get that. Now, bring in the other aspects of the story. How much? Let's say for example, the middle part of the book is simply Rosa reading these letters. Or she's reading Florence narrate what has happened between them in the letters. So she would have to learn everything about Florence. And then decide whether or not she is going to help her. I am feeling tired to not get enough sleep. So the book is a diary memoir scrapbook kind of thing. It is Florence's confessional before she leaves. And the idea is that if you do not return me to my home, I will no longer exist. If we take the book and return it to Florence, what does that mean? What do we actually return? What she's done is admirable. What she's done is story worthy. I guess so. I'm feeling pretty weak. It is a fascinating story of how one woman in her effort to escape this country has created a permanency, a bond between the two places. There are a group of people who now know of this girl who is almost irrelevant in her home community. And this irrelevant girl who couldn't finish college who struggled to make both ends meet. And left her home only to find welcoming arms across the world.
