Physical Description: Skinny, Wavy-haired brunette, fair skinned, about 5’4”, keeps her hair in a scarf when it’s not held up in a bee-hive. Prefers pants to dresses.
Personality: Type VIII, the challenger. Anti-social but not shy, Superficial, not well read, fatalistic, Impatient, Hot tempered, lacks self-confidence, very opinionated, clingy with those who tolerate her judgmental comments about others
Habits/Mannerisms: Smokes, quilts, chews her nails, tends to keep her mouth open, watches a lot of television, reads gossip magazines and newspapers for any social related updates. Always talking about Kennedy’s looks but never about his platform.
Background: White Anglo-Saxon, Baptist, comfortable blue-collar family, her parents own the local dry cleaners in town
Internal Conflicts: Sandra lacks self-confidence which prevents her from creating a path for herself in life. Additionally everything has been handed to her since she was a child, so it’s no surprise that she allows one to be created for her when she meets a man, sleeps with him, gets pregnant and then marries him out of necessity.
External Conflicts: She is the daughter of the Bob Edwards, the owner of Edwards cleaners in Lamesa. His overprotection, but inability to make the effort (because he constantly occupied with his business) serve as the foundation to Sandra’s lack of motivation or goals. She simply doesn’t see the point because in the end, external factors will always decide for you. She goes off to college with Florence, but drops out because she gets pregnant. She marries Dexter Claiborne because he’s the first man she’s ever slept with and does not want to upset her parents.
