Andrew Motion (born October 26, 1952) was the U.K.’s poet laureate from 1999 to 2009 and is the founder of the Poetry Archive, an online resource that features poets reading their own work. He’s also gained fame in other genres: His biography of John Keats inspired the film Bright Star by director Jane Campion, he became the official biographer of poet Philip Larkin, and his young adult novels, Silver and The New World, are popular sequels to Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.
