What’s writing really about? It’s about trying to take fuller possession of the reality of your life.
The English poet Ted Hughes (born August 17, 1930) is known as much for his published work, including children’s books, as for his tragic marriage to poet and novelist Sylvia Plath, who committed suicide in 1963 following his affair with another woman. Birthday Letters discusses his relationship with Plath, and among his collections of poetry are The Hawk in the Rain, Wodwo, Crow, and Wolfwatching. He was named Britain’s poet laureate in 1984.
