Tadeusz Borowski (born November 12, 1922) was a Polish poet and short story writer who survived the Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps but then killed himself at age 28. His literary achievements are considered postwar classics, with the short story collections Farewell to Maria and The World of Stone published in the English translation This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen.
