As far as I am concerned, poetry is a statement concerning the human condition, composed in verse.
Happy birthday, N. Scott Momaday! The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of House Made of Dawn is considered the founding writer of the Native American Renaissance. He received the National Medal of Arts in 2007 for his work in preserving Native American oral tradition.
