Today marks the release of the film A Kind of Murder, an adaptation of the 1954 Patricia Highsmith novel The Blunderer about an unhappy husband contemplating the murder of his wife. A master of the psychological thriller, Highsmith wrote 22 novels and nine short story collections. Her books have inspired over 20 screen adaptations, including Alfred Hitchcock’s 1951 Strangers on a Train, The Talented Mr. Ripley, in 1999, and 2015’s Carol.
