Brainstormed notes:
1. Florence would leave a note behind that her friend (possibly Hispanic) would see. Her friend would discover it because she would be looking for her. It wouldn't be a note but rather an essay from middle school, written the day after she began writing to Shareef.
2. Florence could decide to leave the day her mother comes home from the hospital (to create more tension and the need to discover why she left).
3. Florence could go along with her parents urging to get a job and finish school later in an attempt to save money to buy the plane ticket herself. The irony that her parents are unable to see because she has kept her (recent) letters a secret.
4. The other problem is that of Shareef's engagement to "Magda". Does this hurt or strengthen the plot? How will he convince Florence that he really has broken it off with her? (maybe its not that important).
5. Perhaps someone from the state department meets Florence at the airport (or at the embassy) when she's conducting business there. She'll need to explain her situation to him and his presence could be a good tool to introduce American political views on human rights (for women) in Egypt.
a. She could also meet this person when she arrives in person to ask the same questions concerning her rights as woman married to an Egyptian man.
