JR is the 2011 TED Prize Winner.  This street artist from France is passionate about changing the world through portraits and personal identity.  His project “Inside Out” aims to be the largest participatory art project in the world.

He has also directed the film, “Women are Heroes” (opened in January of this year) which looks at the “effects of war, poverty, violence, and oppression” on women of Rio de Janeiro, Phnom Penh, Delhi and several African cities.  [Ream more on his TED Profile Page]

    Many times women struggle is over looked and his idea of showing a candid film exposing the struggle that women have to undergo, through tragic situations, will bring much needed awareness and appreciation to women.This is a great idea, and is a film that i intend to watch myself.

    I think it is amazing what a painting can do. it can tell different things to different people. And being able to change the world through art is fascinating. People sometimes dont pay attention or understand how much art affects out lives
